U-100 syringe markings are volume markings where 100 units equal 1 mL.
U-100 unit conversion
On a U-100 syringe, 1 unit equals 0.01 mL. A 0.1 mL calculation equals 10 units, and a 0.25 mL calculation equals 25 units.
The markings do not identify the medical suitability of any selected amount. They are a scale for liquid volume.
Convert U-100 units to mL
Divide U-100 markings by 100 to obtain mL: 5 units = 0.05 mL, 10 units = 0.1 mL, 20 units = 0.2 mL, 30 units = 0.3 mL, 50 units = 0.5 mL, and 100 units = 1 mL.
The scale is the same across U-100 syringe capacities. Ten units represents 0.1 mL on a 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, or 1 mL U-100 syringe, although the graduation spacing and available capacity can differ.
Avoiding unit confusion
A U-100 marking does not specify a peptide mass or its biological activity in International Units (IU). To convert a peptide amount in mcg to syringe markings, you also need concentration. At 5,000 mcg/mL, 10 U-100 markings represents 500 mcg; at 2,500 mcg/mL, it represents 250 mcg.
